Except that it wasn't written by Mark Twain. It was written by songwriters Susanna Clark and Richard Leigh in the late 1980s in their song "Come From the Heart".
But here are some non-snarky inspirational quotes from old Sam Clemens:

Here Kim is trying to let you kids know how important you are and you take it to obeying your parents only when they're looking at you?
Whoever wrote or said it isn't relevant. The message is. Do what is important to you. Don't change for others. Live your life for you and not for everyone else. Be you and find the joy in living.
