Have you done a lot of acting? That was great! Also, I wonder how many seconds it will take for Ruby to rush to The Miller's Tale.

Thank you. My total acting experience consists of:
- some dumb skit about healthy food in 2nd grade that we did for the kindergarten and pre-K classes
- an orphan / petty thief in a high school production of Oliver! in 4th grade (kissed a girl for the first time - she was a high schooler playing the part of the Artful Dodger)
- some Christmas play in 6th grade where I was cast as the father of the girl who was my crush and had my hair sprayed gray. That was painful.
- some parts in my high school production of Fiddler on the Roof in 12th grade
- the Baron in a very minimally staged local production of La Traviata in my 30s
What I do have, for better or for worse, is the gift of being a speech mimic. I can usually hear an accent or vocal inflection and pick it up right away. This can sometimes be embarrassing though because I'm not always aware that I'm doing it. I'm sure if I were to start talking to Tati or Libby, I would subconsciously begin to mimic their accent when responding to them.

That means you can live anyplace and fit in. You remembered that by heart?

Yep, everyone in class had to recite it for a grade.
I had to memorize and recite some of Longfellow's "Paul Revere's Ride" at some point too but I don't remember anything but the first two lines.

That was cool but what is wrong with the Millers tale? Mostly we don't have to memorize stuff in school like that. I know my mom did but I think they have stopped it now.

You have a funny accent in that. And I had to decide if you were saying that so I would go and find out or if you really meant it. So I went and found this.

Vince is setting a baaaaad example for Ruby duby. He's going to have her running off to find the X-rated version.

Hey, we read it and I was in a Catholic high school. 😎
I remember on the test we had there was a line from the Miller's Tale quoted: "Spek, sweete bryd, I noot nat where thou art." And because I knew what came next (think of a rude word that rhymes with "art") I busted out laughing in the middle of taking the test and everyone stared at me like I had lost my mind. But our teacher backed me up and said she didn't understand why nobody else was laughing. 🤣

Well done! Notice how quickly my sweet daughter went in search of the "naughty".

I don't remember ever having to memorize a poem. I wonder what the purpose of that is? Love the accent.

That was good. The last American I heard trying to sound Aussie ended up sounding like a confused kiwi combined with a drunk pommy.

I once had to work with a New Zealand company (and my boss at my tax firm was Kiwi too). I noticed how much they elongate their vowels, mainly the a and the e. It was murder trying to arrange phone calls on Chicago time.
