That works well. Something I used to do with my girls was to take their old crayons and make candles they would give to family members as gifts.

I remember doing that. I liked it better when we made ice cream soda candles.

We have made new candles from candle stumps. Just layered colours so far, but we should try making scented candles, too.
I was a bit worried that crayons might contain something that would produce noxious fumes or set them on fire in the process, so I wouldn't have trusted YouTube tutorials, but the PBS and museums seemed trustworthy.
