Thanks Vince; I hadn't noticed Pascal was wrong spelling! I had to study Bertrand Russell's `History of Western Philosophy', but am not familiar with the teapot analogy; I will look it up.

I admit I'm not the one to be unbiased by this, but I do feel it is a stupid topic.

I didn't do it and I'm not doing it how my teacher said. My dad talked to him about it and now what I got to do is not make a confession about stuff but to confess how I feel about God. That is not easy neither but it is a lot easier. You know sometimes people just got to understand that we shouldn't get made to tell stuff that shames us to our very core you know and some stuff is just the business of God and your parents to but not your religion teacher.

The bible does talk about confessing our sins to one another but that doesn't mean journaling.  We aren't confessing our sins, one by one but more sharing those things that we struggle with so we can support and teach one another.  Think of it as a tree.  The action is a branch but not the root of the sin.  We seek help from one another to get to the root and remove it.
