What was the best film or series you watched in 2023? For me, it was Mrs Davis. It is a wild and fun ride, has a very likeable main character, and despite being marketed as "Nun vs AI" is hardly about technology at all. One self-contained season, eight episodes about 60 minutes each. The series is rated TV-MA in the US and 18+ in Australia according to IMDb's Parents Guide. I think 18+ is too much, but there are reasons for the ratings: Violence: There is quite some blood and violence and people losing their head, including probably two shock effects. Much of this happens in the first five minutes of the first episode (which you can just skip). Stage magicians are involved and not all bloodshed is real, but some of it is. Language: Lots of it. In particular one minor character seems unable to form a sentence without the f-word, but even the nuns are not above using it. Sex and nudity: Some sex, but no nudity that I can remember Other concerns: At least one nun is more than spiritually married to Jesus. If you find that objectionable, this series is not for you.

Nothing that I thought was all that great. Obviously from other conversations The Handmaids Tale is something I watched. La Brea I watched but for ages it didn't have new episodes so I forgot about it. I'll have to go see about new ones. I've heard of Mrs. Davis but it didn't jump out at me but I'll have to take another look.
Anyone going to watch the new TWD: The Ones who live? I hear Rick is coming back and so is Michonne.

The third and final season of Ted Lasso also came out last year, and it is as sweet and heartwarming as ever. 34 episodes in total, 30 minutes each. For some inexplicable reason, this is also rated TV-MA in the US - the M (i.e. 15+?) it got in Australia seems much more reasonable to me. See IMDb's Parents Guide for details.

9-1-1 I watched in 2023, and it was really good. Why I never watched it when it first aired I don't know.

Some day I might again enjoy watching a series but not right now. I have started so many things just to wonder (after they've been gone for two years) why I never finished it. I'm not kidding about that. The closest thing to watching something that I've done in years was This Is Us and my husband ended up buying it for me as a gift because I still haven't finished it. I've watched her death but there's still several episodes I haven't watched. I would say it's because my kids keep me so busy (and they do) but I think it's more that I got out of the habit of doing it when we were living in the RV.

That is one reason why I don't watch TV very often. I'd much rather read a book.
