Considering God

Do you ever think about God, I mean really taking a hard look at who or what he's supposed to be?  Does he ever seem to come up short compared to the God described in the Bible?  Not the Old Testament I'm going to get you before you get me kind of God but the New Testament God.  The God who is supposed to be a parent?  The God who is supposed to love us and care for us?  The God who says we shouldn't worry about tomorrow?  The God who loves sparrows but made us in his image and then condemned us to a life of taunting and temptation by the one who tried to overthrow him?  The God who breaks our hearts or let's our hearts be broken over and over again?
Do you ever really consider what if God is nothing more than some man's fairytale?  Why not believe in Zeus?  Why believe in anything at all?

Those are hard questions, Addy but I've been there.  My God experience as a child was an abusive one, emotionally and IMO physically.  I've had to take the people part out of my spiritual walk.  What other people preach or do cannot form my understanding of God.  I've had to look within and come to a conclusion that I can find peace with.  I don't worry about dying and there being no God because if there's nothing there once we're gone, then our consciousness will cease so there will be no let down or hurt or fear.  It will simply end.

Addy, I don't know why but I think you have been having a really hard time lately and sometimes it's hard to feel God in our lives when that happens.  That is when we need to trust and act like we believe until our faith comes back to us.  I will pray for you.

God is a bunch of contradictions.  The Bible is like reading a good mystery novel.  Don't believe everything you read.  My mum is going to lecture me for saying that but it's how I believe.

Addy, sweetheart sometimes God does seem very far away but I'm convinced that's when he's actually the closest.

That something my aunt would say.  She's smart about God things.

Addy you know theres been times when I didn't think God was around and even that maybe he hated me or something. I used to even think I was his joke or maybe his only mistake.  My grandma in Georgia gave me a card called Footprints in the sand and now when I feel that way I read it and it seems to help me remember that sometimes how we feel just isn't how it really is.

I feel weird that I just don't think about God.

Like, it should be important whether or not you believe, but it just isn't something I can ever really think about. I don't know and it doesn't seem to matter to me, even when I think it should

Bethany, don't feel weird.  At your age you have so many things to think about; boys, school, boys, rules, boys, parents, boys, celebrity crushes, boys  .
I think you're very normal.

Ha ha ha then Scarlette is normal to but you got to make it more like boys and boys and boys and school and boys and boys and more boys and rules to ignore   and boys and boys and even more boys.

Ha ha!  Remember I got the straight A's so I can afford to think about boys.
Besides......I'm NOT the one who's been moping about because she wants to go on a date.
