Little Church and soles

I got my Bible teacher sort of unhappy with me.  We had to decorate our journals with pictures we drew or got from someplace of sneakers.  Today he gave to us all sparkly shoe strings to use as a tie for our journals.  I think the shoe strings are awesome because I used glitter glue to make some of my sneakers on my journal cover glitter.  I had help from Ruby cause she is on her way to being a artist I think and I'm not.  But it turned out good I think and the glittery shoe string just matches it all real good.
We did a activity with the shoestrings being all tied together and then we had them hooked on our shoes while sitting on the floor in a circle and it was clumsy cause we had to all stretch in our foot for social distance rules to.  It was clumsy but fun.  Our shoes getting tied together is like the small family of the shoe family and he told us how we are the little church of the big church. I thought that was kind of cool but it made me think of something Scarlette told me and that about some not a prophecy or parable but like something people believe about there being an invisible thread that keeps together a group of people for coming back for reincarnation. I made a joke about us all falling on our heads from stretching out our feet so much and that we would all come back here as one soul group cause of shoes having soles you get it?  My teacher didn't find that funny so I said I was sorry but how come reincarnation can't fit in with being a Christian?  People talked about reincarnation in the Bible right? My dad thought my joke was funny. 
We all got to write about how our family is a little church and how the little church brings something special to our big church.  This should be impossible since my mom don't go to any church on account of her catholic church disowning her and my dad don't believe in any church at all cause he's agnostic.    Maybe it is time to make up a family to belong to.

FWIW I like your joke.  Maybe your Bible teacher was having a bad day.
Your family may not go to the big church but that doesn't mean they don't give something from your little church.  You believe and go to church with Malachi's family so you bring them through you.

A Bible teacher should be able to handle questions and even opposing opinions. Do you think the when you said it may have been the reason the humor was missed?

Differences in beliefs or non-belief doesn't mean a family doesn't or can't add to the "big church" because not everyone's "big church" looks the same.  My husband, an agnostic believes there is more than what we can see and he suspects there's a higher power but he won't commit to what he can't prove.  His church?  The world.  He feels the most connected to the "big" or the "larger" when he's in nature.  I believe we are all part of something bigger so what each of us chooses affects the whole.
Don't limit yourself to one small group of people or to one small church.  We are all part of the bigger picture, Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, Jew, all of us.

The little church is the most important of all the churches because it's where we learn our beliefs and are taught morality.  We have our little church and then our home church and then the big church.  The big church is for coming together to celebrate the little church.
