I don't know about that. Should Hitler be forgiven for what he did? Does a mother forgive someone who kills her child? Even people in prison know there are some people who shouldn't be forgiven. If Hitler was genuinely sorry for the atrocities he committed or instructed others to commit, then yes he should be forgiven. However, that doesn't mean he shouldn't be held accountable, responsible for his crimes and it doesn't mean he shouldn't be punished for what he's done. Taking this down several million notches. When a child does something wrong and is sorry, a parent forgives that child but that doesn't mean a parent doesn't give a consequence. It also doesn't mean the parent forgets that it happened. A parent remembers so the parent can note if there's a bad habit or a pattern to their child's wrongdoings. Giving forgiveness doesn't require you to wear a dunce cap. In that vein, I had a sunday school teacher in college who used to say, "Jesus told us if someone strikes us on the right cheek, the turn and offer the left one as well. But then if they hit you on the left cheek, well, let's go settle this outside."

If I don't forgive someone then I got to stay angry and being angry don't hurt no-one but me. The person who did wrong to me surely isn't going to care right? When I forgive I free myself from a feeling that smothers out all other feelings that are good. It is like walking under a raincloud every day but forgiving is like finding the rainbow. I think justice cannot be done without there being forgiveness because then justice is revenge. Something my dad helped me to understand before when a bunch of people hurt me is how they wronged me said everything about them and nothing about me. He said mostly people are born without wanting to do bad things and then babies want to please their parents and we want to please our friends. When someone does hurtful stuff it is usually because there is something broken down inside of them so we should feel sorry for them but not let their problem become our problem. That is danged beautiful, Rosie. You're a good egg.

Rosie, anyone who doesn't like you has a few nuts and bolts that need to be adjusted. I like the raincloud and rainbow example. I'll borrow it someday. Will your dad ever come back? He would make a powerful Christian.

I wish my dad would become a believer but maybe he will some day. On youtube I seen a video of the pope with this little boy who was scared for his dad cause his dad died and wasn't a believer so he didn't think his dad could get in Heaven. The little boys dad let all his kids get baptized and learn about God so the Pope said that was a very good thing. I don't remember exactly but kind of that God's heart would be soft towards him. My dad don't stand in the way of how any of us believe and he will even drop us off to church or pick us up. He is paying for me to be in a Christian school. He don't believe but he won't stand in the way of us being believers. You know Scarlette is a Catholic and my mom is kind of one to but I'm just Christian.

All Baptists are (in theory) Christians, but not all Christians are Baptists. Catholics consider themselves Christians also, but not all non-Catholics agree with that. Same with Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh-Day Adventists. Basically, the core belief of a Christian is that Jesus is the son of God, Saviour of the world. There are Christians who don't put themselves into a smaller denominational category (like Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, etc.) It's also a bit confusing to those not fully up to speed on the lingo that there are also denominations within Christianity that are called the Christian Church, like the Disciples of Christ. Clear as mud?

Yes clear as mud.
My Georgia family are mostly Baptists and so I guess that makes me a Baptist who didn't go to church. I know my first mom believed but church wasn't something she did. Don't you ever wonder why God didn't just tell us what one of the churches is right?

Don't you ever wonder why God didn't just tell us what one of the churches is right? Now where would be the fun in that? Maybe they're all right, but just for different people. What's the right church for you may not be right church for your neighbor. But then there are "churches" that have done horrible things to others in the name of God. Can they be right? When humans start to get involved, invariably things get messy. Why are there three very separate and distinct "Abrahamic" religions that all believe in the same God (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam)? Why have wars been fought pitting one against the other? If the Crusades were started in the name of God, the implication is that Western Christianity (at the time, just one church pretty much) was the "right" religion and Islam was the "wrong" one. Who gets to decide that? There are no easy answers in life, with or without religion.

There is a lot of evil that hides behind religion and that turns people away from God to. Do you think God holds those who hide behind religion as guilty for those who got turned away from God because of it?

Do you think God holds those who hide behind religion as guilty for those who got turned away from God because of it? I'm really an atheist these days but perhaps Jesus said it best: At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus invited a little child to stand among them. “Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

Why are you a atheist?
When that whole thing that happened to me when I thought that person was who she said but who's my imaginary friend now I kind of felt like God wasn't real and was thinking more how my dad does. You know with his saying he needs more proof. I don't know. Me and Mr. W talked and I got to understanding that my faith is totally separate from that persons faith so I can't let what somebody else does make me believe or not believe.
Something that is kind of hard to understand is how come there has to be so much violence around everything. Even for Christmas time all those innocent little babies got murdered. If we are made in the image of God how can we do such terrible horrible things? If God is love and we are made in his image why aren't we loving to others?
Something I was talking to Mr. W about is I think there was a translation mistake in the Bible because I don't think God is a loving father. He don't act like one so I think he is just a ruler or King and we just like to think he's like a father.
