I think the time will come when the Catholic church will relax the birth control ban. Society has advanced beyond on the point of thinking sex is just for procreation, that it's a healthy activity so that scientific awareness will lead the church to relax the ban on birth control. I think this is a fundamentally un-Christian attitude. Sex, other than for procreation, is no different than a drug. 1 Cor 7:1-10 : Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 Now as a concession, not a command, I say this. 7 I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.
8 To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am. 9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
10 To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband 11 (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife.

Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.

It was not even said to you up personal and you decided it was for you. What does that say about your behavior?

I know Tyrell wore out his welcome because of his argumentative nature but I have to respond to this madness that one thing that turns me off about holy rollers is the blinders they wear. They take pieces of the Bible to interpret it as they like without any historical context. For instance some of this stuff that sounds anti-sex, anti-marriage is said because they thought Jesus was going to return in their lifetime. They didn't understand that they and many generations after them would live and die waiting for the second coming. The Bible was written by men who were influenced by the times they were living in. That's why the Bible will tell you how to treat slaves as if slavery is acceptable and good. It is oppressive towards women because women were oppressed, they were little more than property. In stark contrast to many things written in the Bible is the way Jesus treated women. He was a rebel and gave women respect that men didn't give to their women. Just taking out scripture to fit your agenda is how you weaponize religion.

Praise God I'm not Catholic! You have now convinced me that Catholic religion is nutso. Mandy, Catholicism isn't nutso. Some people are. Some people think they know things and spout off. Just because they sound smart doesn't make them right. FWIW the Catholic Church still preaches no birth control except for the rithym method but it's a rare priest in the USA that would get very upset with you in the confessional about it. It's considered a rather 'ho hum' sin, if it's even a sin at all.

My grandma who is very Catholic said that once upon a time birth control was not as advanced and it would not let a fertilized egg stick but now it prevents a egg to get fertilized. I don't know if that is right but mostly my grandma gets stuff right. This is my grandma who is Catholic and not my Baptist one in Georgia.

That's why not believing is so much better. No judgement on my parents or my sisters or me. People who don't believe are nicer people. My sisters and my mom are nice but my dad has more freedom in how he's nice.

I don't think that is true and besides you can't say a whole entire religion is nutso and you got to respect that some people believe even if you don't believe today.

No crusade. Do you religious people ever read the Bible and think about what it's saying? I mean REALLY THINK?
