Birth control and the Catholic perspective

We can teach abstinence but the bottom line is no matter how hard you teach it, some kids simply won't and I'd much rather they have that protection as well as use a condom if they're going to do it.

I do understand the points you are making.  I haven't been confronted with it yet.  I would love for my children to wait until they are married but I know the chances of that happening are slim.  I didn't wait for marriage but I can say my husband is the only man I have been with.  I'm just not sure I support putting one of my daughters on birth control when they start to date.  I will really have to think it through and talk it over with my husband when one of my children are serious about a relationship.
The Catholic church does not approve of birth control and the reason for that is birth control comes with the risl of not allowing a fertilised egg to implant and that is nothing but a very early on abortion.  I will have to have a very serious talk with my children when that time comes.
The reality is they do not need my approval to be on birth control.  Even Tati at 14 can go to the doctor and get contraception without my consent but it would take two doctors to agree to that and if she is having intimate relations she will get it.  Once she's 15 she can have her own health care card and hide whatever she wants from me.
Being Catholic and my children being raised Catholic does complicate things for me but I will always do what I believe is best for my child whether or not it has the church's approval.  My oldest is 16 and he is so busy with sports and school that girls are not his top priority right now.

Libby, I grew up Catholic.   My mother never practiced birth control, had eight of us but also miscarried several times.   The Catholic church does make this difficult.   I use birth control despite the teachings of the church but I make sure my birth control prevents ovulation.  If you don't ovulate, there's no egg to fertilize.  I do not see how that can be wrong.  
We all will do what we believe is best for our children but I do think the rules of our church are outdated and would change if women had positions of power/authority.

We believe God will help provide.  We do not practise chemical birth control but we do use natural family planning to space our children apart.   I am Catholic and I don't have a quiver, I stopped at four because it is what my husband and I can handle financially.

You know though there is a lot of families that are hungry or don't got no home and God isn't providing for them and how about all them places were little kids are starving to death and got flies in there eyes and everything? The problem with thinking like that I think is that God needs people to do the taking care of others and there is a lot of people who don't want to do that. I wish my mom could have more babies cause a baby in the house would be so much fun and especially if it was a baby brother but she can't do that cause her body don't want her to.

That should not be allowed. The women should go to work to and maybe even then it would be hard to support a lot of kids since if a man has like 4 wives then one whole entire family has only got 1|4 of a man.

Now that you say that I think I've heard that before.  That should be welfare fraud but those kids are not responsible so maybe it's good they have welfare.

No it's the Fundamentalist Mormons.  We have some large groups in this state but none near me.   You ever watch Sister Wives?

My church does not believe in any kind of birth control.  Children are a blessing so we are supposed to be happy with each one God sends to us.
